II. Set Signalyze's overall program memory

The next step is to set Signalyze's overall program memory in the Finder's Get Info window for Signalyze.

1. Quit Signalyze, if it is running (you can't change any program's overall memory settings while it is running):

quit Signalyze gif

2. Open the Finder's Get Info window.

    - Find Signalyze's icon or button in the Finder, and click once on it to highlight it (if a button, click on the name, not the button itself)

    - Open the Get Info window (type command-i, or select Get Info from the File menu)

This will open the Finder's Get Info window for Signalyze:

    get info window gif

    Note:
    - System 7 Get Info windows will not have a popup menu, and the Size fields will be in the lower right-hand corner.
    - If Signalyze is still running, the Size fields will be grayed-out, and you will not be able to change the size information.

3. Set the Minimum Size, and then the Preferred Size (see the figure above).

Recommended: set both Minimum Size and Preferred Size to 16000K (16 MB).

  • Systems 8, 9, X: first select Memory from the Show menu.
  • The Minimum Size must be less than the Preferred Size, or the Finder will complain and refuse to accept the changes.

4. Close the Get Info window so the changes are recorded by the Finder (click on the Close box in the upper left of the window, as below, or use the keyboard shortcut command-W):

    close Get Info window gif

5. Restart Signalyze:
