the documentation
Eric Keller has authored an extensive manual, rich in both detail about Signalyze and about signal analysis in general. The manual has been transferred to pdf format, and so split into several documents.
In addition, information documents from both Linguist Plus and other Signalyze users are available to help you. A list of the documents available can be found on the documentation index page.
Please note: The documents dealing with the specifics of using Signalyze are currently available only to registered users of version 3. Registered users, please contact Linguist Plus at support@signalyze.com to obtain a copy of those documents.

the on-line help
In addition to the printed version of the manual, the information contained therein is also available to you at any time via the on-line help. You can acess it either via the keyboard shortcut command-H, the Apple menu, or by clicking on the Help button found in most dialogs:
Command-H -or - - or -
Any of these will open up the on-line Help.
Once the on-line help is open, you will be presented with the opening dialog:

The index of the on-line help is on the right, in the scrollable area. Clicking on the topics in the index will bring up the corresponding parts of the on-line help:
- Quick Orientation section
- TOPICS: brings up the first page of the on-line help, shown on the left-hand side of the image above
- WORK AREAS: details the parts of the main signal window
- CONTROL PANELS: details the parts of the general control panel and the signal control panels
- "How To" Guide
- "HOW-TO" SECTION: details how to perform the various functions available in Signalyze, and necessary background information
- Dialog Setup Reference
- REFERENCE SECTION (shown by scrolling down the index): contains information on how to set up the various Signalyze dialogs
(The Technical Information heading at the bottom of the left-hand side above refers to the printed manual, now a series of pdf documents.)

the balloon help
Signalyze also takes advantage of the balloon help that has been available since System 7. Signalyze's balloon help gives you many good tips on the functions of its buttons, menus and work areas.
Turn on balloon help via the Help menu (under some system versions, the help menu was denoted by a question mark ? in the menu bar):

With balloon help turned on, you can position the cursor over an element to get a quick tip about the element's function:
